Remember that at Heartland we want to you think, feel, and live! We’ll feature eight original short plays in a paranormal presentation that frightens and enlightens. Some piano skills are a plus but not required. ![]() It is essential that the actor portraying the role is able to carry the show while being comfortable improvising in their interactions with the audience and synthesizing those interactions into their performance.Īctor must be comfortable singing on stage. ![]() Every Brilliant Thing is a solo show that features intense audience interaction, with audience members even portraying the other people in the Narrator’s life. The Narrator can be a person of any gender expression (male-identifying/female-identifying/non-binary), any ethnicity, and any age. It tracks the effects of that search from childhood to adolescence and adulthood, detailing both the pain and joy along the way The play details one person’s struggle to find and bring happiness to a family member living with severe depression. A one-person theatrical tour de force that invites the audience to participate in the storytelling and share in the experience of being human.Įvery Brilliant Thing Audition Notes from the Director: So begins a young child’s list of every brilliant thing in life, a list composed as a way of coping with their mother’s struggle with depression and mental illness. Many past Youth Theatre Company members now work professionally in the industry. This course is a stepping stone for young people who are serious about theatre. The Youth Theatre Company is led by theatre professionals, with external workshop practitioners invited in to do guest workshops with the company in a variety of performance skills. This will include fundraising, publicity, writing, acting, sound design, costume design and much more. In the Youth Theatre Company, you will be involved in all aspects of running a company. Each year, the company produces a showcase of new work created by the members from scratch at the end of term one and a full length production at the end of term three. Throughout the year members of the company will expand their acting skills and get first hand experience running a theatre company. This is to ensure that they have adequate confidence and experience for the course. Young people who wish to to audition for this course must have completed at least one term in another Young Gaiety course.
